Avocado Mask with an Ayurvedic Twist

Avocado Mask with an Ayurvedic Twist

Today, I’m giving my recipe for a moisturizing hair mask that helps with hair health. You’re going to need an avocado, fenugreek powder, amla powder, moringa powder, jojoba oil, rosemary essential oil, Jamaican black castor oil, and a blender. All of the ingredients listed can be found on amazon, except the avocado. Get that at the grocery store, or you love guac like me you probably already have one.

You have two options. You can either put the powder in the oil (which will be messier and harder to rinse out of your hair) or you can use the powders to make an oil infusion and use the infused oil to blend with the avocado and make your hair mask that was. It’s less messy and as a bonus you will have extra infused oil to use as a hair growth oil.  Sounds like a win-win to me. You can use the mask weekly after you shampoo your hair. If you’re putting the powder into the avocado, then you might want to shampoo again after the mask or use a cheap conditioner to help the powder fully rinse out of your hair.

To make the infused oil you simply take the herbal powders and put them in a bowl with the oils, I use a glass bowl. You fill a pot up with water, place the bowl on top of the oils and bring it to a simmer/ low boil. Basically, you don’t want the pot to over boil. I won’t mess anything up but it will create a mess that no one has time for. Let the oils infuse for at least 2 hr’s then you can cut the heat off. Let the oil cool down naturally before you try to do anything. That bowl is going to be HOT so be careful. Once it’s cooled down you can take cheesecloth and pour the oil through it to filter out the powder. Bam now you have your infused hair oil. This method can be used to make almost any infused oil, so you can get creative with the herbal powders you use.

Next steps take the avocado, infused oil, rosemary essential oil and put it in a blender, I personal blender will work just fine and blend everything until smooth.

Apply that mask onto your hair and wrap it up with a plastic bag or plastic shower cap for about an hr and then rinse out.

If DIY's aren't your thing, you can always purchase my liquid gold hair elixir or liquid gold hair creme. It's contains many ayurvedic ingredients that have been used for hair health for centuries

Comment below and let me know how you liked the mask and how it made your hair feel.
